There Is Nothing in the Caterpillar…

There is nothing in the caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly.

I’m often attracted to simple card layouts and have a habit of spending more hours than I should on Pinterest looking for all sorts of ideas. During one of my scouring’s, I came across a simple and elegant layout created by HandStampStyle.com using Stampin’ Up! butterfly punches and some designer paper. I had saved it, knowing one day I would want to recreate the idea. So, tonight’s cards are inspired and CASE’d from HandStampStyle.com. Of course, I hate to just CASE (copy and share everything) the card without adding a little twist of my own, so I added some ribbon and buttons to my card gift set, and this is what I ended up creating.

One Sketch, Two Looks

The Teacher Wife I was tickled pink to learn my entry into Technostampers Monday’s Lunchtime Challenge two weeks ago was one of Mary Jo’s Top 3 Picks of the TSSC 362 challenge. I love participating in these sketch challenges because it helps me to create my own masterpiece rather than just CASing someone else’s card. I get excited stamping and creating…it’s a nice diversion from my 9 to 5 job.

So, what’s in store for this week’s Lunchtime Sketch Challenge? Well, I decided to use the Butterfly Basics stamp set and coordinating thinlits. I don’t know why I held out so long in getting this set, but when I finally did decide to purchase it, of course, it was on backorder…but my patience paid off and when I was hostess last month, I was able to purchase the bundle plus get an extra SAB item for free.

A Card for Mom

I hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful Mother’s Day! The weather was absolutely gorgeous. We had my parents and sister over for dinner in the gazebo. I tried a new one pot recipe on them with salmon and asparagus then roasted baby red potatoes with cherry tomatoes and onions. It turned out really well, and I only had two pans at clean up. I will get to sharing some of my recipes in future posts, but for today, I wanted to share the card I made for my mom.

Celebrate Today!

TSSC362TGIF!! Yes, the week has finally come to an end. It was a busy week at work, and I’m ready to put the work part of my brain to rest, let my creative side of the brain take over, and unwind at my stamp table creating something fun to share with you later. But, before I get started, I want to share the card I made for my sister’s birthday using Technostampers 1st Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 362 (TSSC 362).

My First Sketch Challenge

You know how you set out to do one thing, and you end up doing another? Well, that was pretty much the way my entire day went today. It started by going to breakfast with my sister and then we came back to my house to work on her blog. Which, by the way was all planned to happen, but we found ourselves hours later having worked far longer on a project we thought would be an hour or two. So, after we wrapped up with the computer stuff, we decided to head out to Home Depot and Lowe’s as I wanted to pick up some paint chips (for another project I will eventually post about), then to Baskin Robbins for a tasty treat.
